The 2007 Tournament was held on Sunday
5th August.
Main
Competition
The
main competition trophy was played for the first time in 2002.
The history of the trophy is unclear but it was offered to the
club in December 2001 and is possibly art deco.
The
Plate trophy was originally the "Challenge Jean Quere" named
after a very well known petanque player from St Pol De Leon with
whom the town of Penarth is twinned.
This
trophy was given to the club by the winners of the doubles
competition on a visit by the club to St Pol de Leon in 2000,
we are very pleased to be able use the trophy in this positive
way.
2005
was the first time this competition was included as an additional
opportunity for those teams who were unfortunate enough not
to qualify for the two main competitions. Penarth Petanque Club
will endeavour to run this competition as part of the doubles
day.
